I am a local and this is my go to place for great beer and food. It is not unusual for me to visit this fine establishment a few times a week. The only read one this does not get 5 stars is because the service can be slow sometimes. There a re a few waitress that are great, however. A select few can be slow. The food and beer is well worth the wait. My recommendations. Beer: 1. Misfit Red 2. X10 3. Retribution 4. Coco fuego 5. Dirty Little Freak Food: 1. Buffalo Chicken Tenders and Fries 2. Bison Burger 3. Cuban 4. Duck Fat Fries 5. Mac n Cheese Bombs 6. Bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños

The beer is excellent but the bartender was awful. She was very unprofessional and clueless about the beer and customer service. To me this is a direct reflection of management. I was there on July 7 around 10pm and we were greeted with "what do you want". For starters I would like to see a beer list and perhaps some suggestions, maybe a smile!?! After about 15 minutes the female bartender, whom appeared to be in her 40's, came back to take our order. While asking questions about the beer she walked away to take the order for the people who just walked up to the bar. Hello. We are ordering. Btw the bar was empty. Service is everything and I don't care how good your beer is Next time I'll get packaged goods.

Just don't get their crab cakes! They taste nothing like a crab cake is supposed to taste. Reminded me of something you'd find at a restaurant in New Jersey or Virginia. Terrible!

I like the Duclaws Arundel Mills location so I expected a similar experience from the Bel Air location but was sorely disappointed. It was an odd 3 pm hour so the place was empty but the bartender service was terrible. Although I didn't order anything I usually go for, they could have done better. The spinach salad with smoked salmon was okay. I thought it was too much salmon but someone who loves smoked salmon probable would have enjoyed it. They had no excuse for the chicken though. It was drier than a cracked desert floor. I'm not sure I would even give them a second chance.

Come for the beer and stay for the beer. Layout is a bit different from most locations I have been to. Since its a chain you know what to expect as far as the menu and prices. They have a good selection of beer on tap and I love trying out the seasonal beers. I ordered some bacon wrapped poppers. Man they were hotter than I remember. I also had some short rib tacos. Pretty average flavor and the tortillas were a little hard. The waitress was friendly and corrected my order. She was very knowledgeable about the beers on tap and recommended a nice seasonal beer. Would really give it a 3.5 but rounded up for the waitress.

It saddens me when I have to downgrade my rating on a place that I used to love so much, and in many ways still do like. I've been to this DuClaw at least a dozen times and, sure, things haven't been perfect every time. But based on my scale of great beer + good food + acceptable service = 5 stars, DuClaw consistently earned their 5-star rating. However, I could see cracks forming in that 5-star foundation as long wait times and spots of poor service became more glaring and commonplace with each visit. My visit this weekend was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. Before I go into details, let me be clear about what is and is not contributing to my updated review. It's certainly not the beer - DuClaw still pours some of my favorite craft brews, and their new coconut caramel chocolate brown ale (Dirty Little Freak) is one of the best new beers I've tried in a while. Between favorites like the Bare Ass Blonde and Sweet Baby Jesus, and their well-executed seasonals and special batch brews, there's always multiple beers to enjoy at DuClaw. And the food here is pretty awesome. The chorizo burger is one of the best things I've ever eaten. And the Duck Fat Fries are to die for. The problem here is unquestionably the service. It's adequate on their best day, and can get pretty bad. And the sad part is that I don't think they know how bad it is (or don't care). In the past I have let things slide because the awesome food and beer make up for it. I've gotten some attitude back in the bar while waiting 10-15 minutes to be acknowledged and served, but things usually get better once the service gets going and they see how much I'm drinking :-) I've had some slow turn-around times in the dining room, but the service had generally been pleasant, did all it could to keep the beers flowing, and the food is generally worth the wait. But things were so bad Sunday that I couldn't let them slide anymore. We walked in and was seated promptly. The restaurant was maybe 1/3rd full, and the bar had a decent crowd at the bar, but almost all tables were empty. A guy was cleaning off the table next to us and broke a glass. He made sure we were OK and proceeded to clean up the mess. However, at no time did he introduce himself as our server, and we waited 15 minutes before I grabbed a hostess to ask for service. She very coldly told me that the server was right behind her, and the guy apologized saying he wanted to make sure the mess was clean. OK fine, we'll let that slide. We put in our beer orders and wanted to put in our food orders to save the time we lost, but my father-in-law was in the restroom and we didn't know what he wanted. So the drink orders go in and we wait ... and wait ... and wait. After another 15 minutes, I go to the bar to review the tap selections and see if I might be able to get a drink quicker ... at this point I've been at DuClaw 30 minutes and I haven't gotten a beer. As I'm heading back one way, I'm being summoned from the other side - the beer has finally arrived and the server has finally found time in his schedule to take our food order. As if things couldn't get any worse, someone who was apparently either a regular or (more likely) an employee came in and sat in our section. From there, our server immediately flocked to her and actually SAT DOWN and chatted with her for 5+ minutes ... all the while, we haven't been checked on or asked for refills. Several other servers did the same, clearly ignoring their tables. It was unprofessional and uncomfortable ... it made it clear that while we were welcome and treated politely, this was THEIR restaurant and we would be served when they saw fit. I was still willing to let this all slide until our lunch came out. My father-in-law asked the server for a side of mayo. The server noted that the ketchup was missing with the fries and he'd bring that too. And he did ... after he went to the table across from us and chatted up his friends for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, my father-in-law has his hamburger open, getting cold, waiting for mayo, and has eaten half of his fries with no ketchup. The server finally brings the ketchup ... without mayo. Extremely frustrated, I point out the error. As I walked out, I got no thank you greetings from anyone, just an uncomfortable stare from one of the greeters who was probably glad that we got out of HER restaurant. I'm generally not that picky and rather forgiving about service errors ... but there's a difference between mistakes and blatantly apathetic service. I debated heavily on whether I'd go down to 4 or 3 stars here. I'm definitely still a "fan" of DuClaw, and I'd come here again for their awesome Real Ale Festival or to watch a game and maybe grab some food in the bar. But I'll never come here with the family for lunch/dinner or sit in the dining room again. Based on the recent reviews, poor service seems to be the norm rather than the exception, and for that, I can't go above 3.5 stars.

The brew masters could teach a thing or two to the chefs and bar staff of the restaurant. Both lack creativity and personally which make you crave for more. They put out everything from a peanut butter porter to a double ipa which put you into a beer euphoria (pardon my pun). However the food is bland and the service is lackluster. The restaurant has a new age brew pub feel with a full service outdoor seating area. I would recommend apps and a craft beer sampler and stay away from the entrees. The beers will thrill everyone from a craft beer novice to a pro, but the food could use some enthusiasm.

good place to stop in for a beer. Had a few Indian Pale Lagers. However it did seem to take awhile to get my first beer and the refills. (Bartender seemed busy but the place was almost empty) The Maryland Crab soup was good. I did not try any other items on the menu since the waitress never came back (followed up to see if I wanted more than just soup) I had to go up to the bar and close out my bill.. I would go back again for a beer. I think I just caught them during the week when it was slow.

Did lunch here a few months ago and it was average so we thought we would give it another try for an early Saturday dinner. Ten years plus ago Duclaw was the go-to place for good craft beer and excellent food. One of those is still true today. The menu definitely suggests "upscale" bar food that weaves various versions of their brews into the recipes. We had the following: Caesar Side Salad: Fresh romaine, shaved provolone, garlic croutons, and dressing. Not bad... Crab Pretzel: Braided "soft" pretzel alleged to contain crab imperial...melted cheese. Pretzel was hard on the ends and contained about a tablespoon of crab. Bad... Duck Fat Fries: Extremely soft and greasy. Awful... Mahi Slider: Bun was borderline stale. Needed to be toasted. Fish was severely over cooked. Missing the remoulade sauce. Bad... Buffalo Shrimp Slider: Fried shrimp was crisp and sauce was good. Stale bun ruined it. Average... Normally, I would have advised the staff how bad everything was but I got the impression from the service and attitude of the staff that no one cared anyway. Discounted or free meal wouldn't send me back anyway. Skip it folks, this place's best days are looooooong behind it.

Duclaw has great duck fat fries. I wish I liked beer to try that. I love the atmosphere and they have trivia on Thursdays!

Always good food and craft brewed beer. Catfish fingers, blackberry wings and crab flatbread damn good!!! I also want to add how well the host and our waitress was to us. We were disappointed that they had run out of Mac and cheese bites, which I have been told they are yummy and also being out of one of my favorite beers, Devil's Milk, they were nice enough to take care of our Pick Six sampler. We are grateful for doing this and it wasn't expected by us, so nice touch!!! We'll be back again!!!

Great beer and the foods not bad either. If you like porters, have the Sweet Baby Jesus. Fantastic. I had the Bison burger with the home made chips. The burger was moist and delicious and the chips were great. It can get a little loud on the bar side but there is a family friendly restaurant side as well.

I go to the DuClaw Brewing Co/Restaurant at least twice per week for the last four years. It's a great place! Love the people who work there! This place is clean, with a warm atmosphere. DuClaw has some of the best beers in the world. I lived in Germany for five years, so I have a great appreciation for fine beer. On Saturday, 6 December 2014, I went the DuClaw to try the new menu item, the Ramen. Being a ramen aficionado, I was very much looking forward to the ramen by DuClaw. I was quite impressed that DuClaw is venturing into the new trend of THE RAMEN, which has been gaining immense popularity nationally. This is a bold move for an establishment like DuClaw, which is known mainly for the fine craft beers, as well as some fine, creative cuisine. DuClaw is to be commended for such boldness! But unfortunately, my experience with this new menu item was not quite up to par. Here is my list of points of disappointments: 1. The Ramen was served without Ohashi (chopsticks). 2. The menu stated that soy sauce was on the side. Instead, some other thick brown sauce was in a small cup on the side. I later found that it was Hoisin sauce. 3. The menu included chopped scallions. None was ound in dish. 4. The soup very salty. It was dark and I could not detect the base. If it was supposed to be Shio-based, it was too dark and too salty. This was the first time in my life that I did not drink up the soup. 5. The amount of soup was minimal. The soup is a major element of ramen, except for the types specifically made as "soupless ramen." 6. The noodle used for this "ramen" was Soba. I don't understand. Why? Perhaps the menu item should have been called "Soba." 7. The ramen's hard boiled egg was VERY hard boiled. Better to be half hard, simmered. 8. The bowl used was the same type used for their Spicy Jambalaya. The brim flares out to the side, like a plate. So it's not the best design for drinking the soup directly from the bowl to the mouth. Above are many things that I found to be shortcomings of this new menu item. However, there are a few things that I was please with: 1. The grilled chicken topping was absolutely delicious! 2. Tyler, the server, was a great sport, was very pleasant, and served us superbly. 3. I had a pint of the HELL RAZER before partaking the ramen. That was quite nice! In spite of my negative experience with DuClaw's ramen, I hope that they will keep ramen as a menu item, but just not using the same recipe that I experienced. If any chef at DuClaw would like a first-hand experience in creating ramen that I feel is more palatable for ramen-heads, please let me know. I will invite him/her to my periodic "Craft Ramen Parties." These events introduce people to what ramen really can be.... NOT anything like the cheap, freeze-dried ramen packets favored by starving college students. You can then see, smell, feel, and taste real "Craft Ramen." Examples can be seen at the "LIFE WITH RAMEN" page on Facebook: facebook.com/LifeWithRam… P.S. I know of a great source for some fine ramen noodles. They can send you some fresh samples.

I wish I could give 1/2 stars, because this place would be 3.5. As the rating system stands, I'm rounding down because I don't think this place is as good as some of the other places I've rated as a 4. We started off with the buffalo chicken and the crab pretzel for appetizers. The buffalo chicken was less of an appetizer and more of an entree as it came with 3 chicken strips, rather than wings or nuggets and a side order of fries. It was fine, but kind of awkward to have to cut and split it, especially considering it was in the appetizer section. The crab pretzel was the bomb dot com. Our waitress was patient and accommodating with our picky dinner companion. Beers were very good and my crab cake was decent even though the old bay aioli was a disappointment. Everyone else seemed happy with their respective meals. Bottom line: although the beer and service were good, the food wasn't that great. I'm sure we'll be back as this is exactly 1/2 way between our house and my in-law's house.

This place has an amazing brewery atmosphere! The front of house staff was not very pleasant but our server was excellent! The food was very good and the beer was even better! I love brewing companies and this was one of the better ones I have been to. The server was very knowledgeable and super friendly. Needless to say I highly recommend this restaurant. Don't let the front of house staff turn you off.

What a great find! My husband and I were driving from North Carolina to New Jersey and our route took us by DC and Baltimore. My husband remembered that Duclaw is based out of Baltimore and asked me to see if it happened to be nearby. We had already passed the Arundel Mills exit - another convenient stop off of this trip. We're we ever surprised that the Bel Air, MD location (which come to find out is the original location) was also 3 miles off of an exit. That made it a done deal. We got in late with the kitchen closed but, that was okay. We had a fantastic bartender that humored our beer geekiness. Yes, the hubs was taking pictures in the parking lot - we are those people. My recent affinity for darker beers has matched up well with some Duclaw bottles we've found in NC. Their Dirty Little Freak is an amazing coconut Brown Ale. It may be the best coconut beer that I've found. We had to have a full pint of that one. Although we also love Sweet Baby Jesus (a delicious chocolate peanut butter beer) we built a flight of six other beers. Duclaw does a great job with flights - they include cards with descriptions of the beer. My second favorite of the night was one of their Exile series beers (never heard of them). It was Exile 10 - a cantaloupe saison. Well done. We were impressed all around. They had to have about 20 different Duclaw beers on tap and if you aren't a beer drinker, that's okay - they had ciders, a pretty big wine selection and a full bar or good liqueurs as well. I have to reiterate that we had outstanding service. Our bartender has been there since it opened in 1996 and she treated us very well. This was a great stop. Oh and by the way, there are other great businesses off of the same exit too including a very nice Hampton Inn, a Wegmans and a Bertuccis. This will become a regular stopping point for us, I believe. Thanks Duclaw for your amazing beers and a great experience.

We visit every time we are in town. Great beer selection. My friends like the IPA if you're into that. Misfit Red is excellent. Salad: Jerk Chkn Salad Boats. Fantastic! The duck fat fries were interesting but overrated in my opinion. The mustard with the Cuban has quite a kick. Neon Gypsy Fritter for desert was pretty good. Service IS slow. Don't think it's the wait staff. They were friendly. It seems like there aren't enough of them or the kitchen staff is too small. Would have been 5 stars if service were faster. Bottom line. Good beer, good food, slow. Order early. I still like the place. Will bump my rating if that aspect pulls itself together.

This is the best happy hour spot in the area. House brewed beers for $3 and change and a whole list of happy hour appetizers for $3-7 price point. Brought my dad here who was visiting from Florida and we went twice within just a few days because he loved it so much. Happy hour is from 3-7pm and the best time to go - not overly packed, well staffed bar.

I am going to make the following suggestions for the Bel Air location 1.Close the restaraunt part of the buisness and go back to make this the location of the corp office and brew site. 2.Fire the night manager after no service of a hour and half we did not see one manager not one do a float table check for customer satisfaction 3,Who ever does the wait staff training REALLLLLYYYYYY HAS TO GO

I am a fan of Du Claw beer. I'm known to purchase it in stores or drink it on tap if i can find it. Especially their seasonal brews. (The funk! YES!!) However, I found the actual restaurant had a bit to be desired. We visited with a very large party for a rehearsal dinner, so I'm sure we overwhelmed the 3 or more girls who were set to serve us in the room. Drinks took a little while to get (understandable, probably overwhelmed the bartender too)... The reason for the low stars is I really can't say I enjoyed the food at all. My husband had the Sweet Baby Jesus strip steak with fries. Steak was ok, though dry (they try to hide it with the mushroom sauce on top) and the fries were inedible. I had duck confit over braised kale. I felt the duck was ok, but the kale was greasy and lost all benefit of being kale. I would absolutely not make a special trip to Du Claw for a meal outside of the party we were with. The beer, however, I will continue to enjoy the heck out of.

We tried it to experience a local feel. Service was ok. Food was mediocre and the price was ridiculous. Their style pack is terrible, but hey what else can you expect from bel air md? Guess we got our local feel.

Is it my fault for ordering Pho in a Maryland brewery playing country music? or is it their fault for putting it on the menu? These are the types of questions you'll ask yourself at this brewery-themed restaurant. Not to be confused with an actual brewery, this place only has a limited selection of cold 12oz bottles for sale. We stopped here on our journey north for lunch and hoping to score a few bottles of rare dessert-style beers. Unfortunately, we left empty handed after a mediocre lunch. But let's get back to the pho. Why is it even on the menu? Can what was ultimately served be called pho? It's clear that the Chef either doesn't like pho or has in fact never tried it. There was barely any broth in the dish, which I guess makes sense considering it was basic beef broth with a hint of cinnamon. A far faaaaaar cry from the flavored you'd expect in a pho broth. Then there was the half pound of rare roast beef topped with caramelized onions. It dominated the dish. So much in fact that the dish should be called a bread-less French Dip. Now this is the part I can't fathom... they used a flat rice noodle (same type of noodle you'd expect in Pad Thai), and CUT the noodles into 1 inch lengths. What. The. Proverbial. Frack? They consciously decided to cut the noodles. The only reason I can deduce is to make it nearly impossible to eat with chopsticks -- which is all this dish is served with. Considering this broth-famous dish was only served with about 2 tablespoons of broth, they felt a spoon was unnecessary.

This place is not hit or miss. The food is great, the bartenders are sociable and genuine and it is likely that you will get to know a few regulars too. I hear intense debates over politics, I hear fun filled laughter over trivia; I am never disappointed to come for a good session of craft deliciousness at Duclaw. If you stop in and have never been here before, please try: Sweet baby Jesus Chicken tenders - stupid hot Getting the number of one of the bartenders Good luck!

Innovative beers, a creative menu that goes beyond the typical pub fare... This is a brew pub that is rightfully seen as a leader in the industry and clearly one of the highlights of Harford County dining.

Stopped here on my drive to New Jersey and it was amazing! Service was friendly and food and drinks were delicious! I'm not a huge beer person so my server let me taste a couple before I chose. I normally don't dark dark, ambers, but "Misfit Red" is definitely a must try! It has a nice strong finish that isn't bitter! Love it! Also tried their ahi tuna salad and it was huge in portion and amazing! Definitely plan on going back when I can!

Every time Ive been here the food has been average but the service has been an overwhelming disappointment. Today my family sat for 20 minutes without so much our drink order being taken. Needless to say we left and will not be coming back. DuClaw owners- Your restaurants management needs a refresh as do your servers. Flat out, your service sucks.

I have been to DuClaw's many of times and am a big fan of their beers and food. This visit didn't disappoint either. We started off with their crab pretzel which is awesome and then my wife had their wings while I had their Cuban sandwich. All lived up to our expectations and we walked away satisfied. We were a little disappointed that some of our favorites were no longer the menu (strawberry salad) and the fact that the jumbalaya dish has really gone up in price ($20). It is very tasty but I am not sure it is worth that when there are many other options on their menu that are just as good but less expensive. Overall, with the quality of their dishes and beers I do recommend a visit to their restaurant. The portions are pleantiful and most of their prices are reasonable for what you get.

We were very excited to go check out this brewery and when we arrived, they were very busy. The restaurant and bar was filled and we had to wait for a table. Before long, we received a text notification that a table was ready. We went to the hostess who showed us to our table and we waited. And waited....for at least 15 minutes. When a server finally walked by we asked her when we'd be served. She was apologetic and said that they would comp an appetizer or something for us. Our server finally came and we placed our order. The beer here is amazing and highly recommended. When our server brought our check at the end of our visit, it was the wrong one. When he brought us a second check, it also had items on it that we did not order. The third check had all of the items we ordered and nothing was comp'd. At least the beer was good. The food was ordinary. Go for the beer. Don't come hungry.

I love this place! It's perfect for someone who loves craft beer. They have a good selection of beers, and they frequently introduce new beers. You can also purchase many of their beers in liquor stores which is really nice if you ever just want to have some DuClaw beer without having to go to the restaurant/bar. It's always nice and low key here too, which I enjoy. The staff is always friendly and the bartenders are very attentive and knowledgable about the beers they offer. I haven't had their food in years, but from what I remember, it was pretty good. Highly recommend for anyone who is a beer fan!

  • Mike V.

The beers are tasty, however the food is just a bit lacking and is way to pricey even for the area the restaurant is located in. There are consistently menu items offered on the menu that are not available or "sold out" unless you are going for the beer then I suggest a pass

Good beer but really poor service and the food is rarely on point. This is the third time and it sucked every time it made us want to smash our children's well-crafted jack-O-lanterns into the man hole out front. That happened and it helped us burn off a small bit of the greasy crap we ingested. We ate the food at du claws and are full so I guess we can say we are full of crap....oops never mind I'm listening to my husband on the shitter and it's run right through him...that's the shit I'm talking about. So whether you're there getting bombed on the weekend or simply stopping by for a quiet dinner, either way you will be praying to the porcelain gods for mercy and the wisdom to never venture back into that establishment again. Amen. Boo awe Du Claw...stinky poo man took baby butt heads milk cup you heard it right that's why I write you dig?!

Tonight was horrible service. Two hours for a dinner this is not a place that should take this long for burgers. I needed another drink I had to flag another staff member to get my waitress which took another 5-10 minutes to get her. Food came was Luke warm and my Cobb salad which should have lump crab NOT one piece. Then we were celebrating a birthday and wanted to get dessert but we declined given we would probley still be there. Very disappointing.

One star is actually too much in my opinion. We went after work on Tuesday the 17th, 2015 and the place was a ghost town (maybe 4 tables with people ) so service should of been impeccable . We ended up sitting in the main dinning room because the only seating in the bar area were high tops or bar and anyone with back issues knows those chairs are not ideal. We ask for a booth and were seated in this very tiny booth that did not accommodate big and tall men. His belly was tight against the table that didn't move and his legs were basically on my side across from him. But we were hungry so we dealt with it ,then the wait began. We were given menues by the girl who sat us but that was the only service we received for no less than 15 minutes. We were passed over and over again buy servers yet no one acknowledged our presence. Finally I had enough and stopped a server and asked if anyone was planning on waiting on us and her response was let me go get him for you. Him as in the only male server in there that looked me in the eye several times yet never came over and atleast took our drink order...no thank you. We told her nevermind and we left. Ended up across the street to Buffalo Wild Wings and sat in a comfortable booth in the bar area with a server who made our night enjoyable after all. Won't be trying Duclaw again.

Great dinner, especially for a spur-of-the-moment decision. Hubby had the crabcake sandwich, which had a nice amount of crab but a little more filler than we'd expected. I had the cobb salad, which included a grilled chicken breast, crabmeat, avocado, blue cheese, tomato, egg, and bacon over romaine lettuce. Totally filling. We both chose the new summer beer, Moregasm... good but would have liked a little more of the grapefruit taste they mentioned. This was a fun place to go for a good meal and some great beer. Have tried their Dirty Little Freak before - yum!

The food was okay but nothing special. I had the BLT Mac and Cheese and had flavor so that's a plus. Extra star for the food, but the service was horrible. I'm a waitress so I always feel sympathy for other servers when I go out to eat, but our waitress didn't even tell us her name. It wasn't busy but out waters took forever to come out, we had to ask for the rolls which came out hard and dry, and overall she was not friendly at all. She made no effort to make us feel comfortable, or check on us which sucked bc our glasses got empty and we could never find her. I won't be rushing to go back to this place.

We've been to DuClaw's many times. I love the beer. I love beer period and have tried almost everything. DuClaw has a number of flavored beers, and at first this kinda bothered me - some are artificially flavored. But they are SO good! - and in the end the quality of the product outweighed the fact some may be artificially flavored. The food here is hit or miss, we have had so many things from the menu, some successful, some not so much. I have found the traditional items to be the best, burgers, fries, sandwiches, wings - the wings here are VERY good. I like Asian food and there are a number of Asian offerings, it's not that they are bad...they just aren't executed properly. The tuna sashimi appetizer was a few crudely sliced large and thick pieces of tuna; the habanero mango sauce was excellent, very spicy, there just wasn't enough of it - and the slices of tuna were huge! - an entire mouthful, subsequently hard to get down. What they call pho here, was good, just not traditional pho - the broth was very sweet and dark - nearly black and chock full of over caramelized onions, (I suspect it was French onion soup at one point) it is served with what almost appeared to be lunch meat slices in it, very thin rare beef slices, with some cilantro and fresh basil garnishing the plate along with mung bean sprouts - they serve a side of siracha and hoisin? - It was good, but not nearly pho - call it faux pho. The seared ahi tuna salad and barbecue chicken flat bread is really good... We recently had the gyro which left us slightly disappointed, it wasn't bad, and in my opinion nothing here is bad, the food has always been very well prepared - with care. The duck fries are great! I will continue to come here, and often. The beer is good, the service has always been friendly and good, sometimes a little slow when it is busy...but the beer helps the time pass. I like experimenting with the food, it's not all great but some of it really is, we generally have a good time here and I am always anticipating what I may order and what new beers they may have concocted.

I want to love this place, I really do. The decor is awesome. The food is usually very good. The creativity of the dishes is great. The beer selection is amazing (duh brewery). But the service is so bad I have to give Du Claw what would be a 4 or 5, a 3. The hostesses do not even give a little bit a cheer or say "Hi Welcome..". They gave no direction when informing me that they would text me when my table was ready. All they did is ask for my name and number and said 30 minutes, then they kept talking to each other. By the way there was at least three of them standing up there chatting. Next, the waiter, while very nice, was very forgetfull and took forever to refill our drinks. How do you confuse an order for Cherry Porter beer with Crab Soups? Last time we were here a lot of our order was wrong, at least this time it was right when it made it to the table. I live right around the corner from this place and I would come more often if the service was better. Hey management, why don't you start by telling your workers to smile and greet their customers with a positive, up beat attitude so they don't make their customers feel like they are an inconvenience. That would go a long way.

Loved this place. I spent 6 weeks in the area in 2010, and really enjoyed the food and beer selection. Fast forward to 2014, and even more impressed. The beer selection is delicious and eclectic. The 21.5% Colossus is phenomenal. Sweet Baby Jesus was a great change up from normal selections. Had great food all three visits this time. The Goat Cheese Burger was delicious and moist. Very friendly and helpful staff...from bar to table. Thanks much!

This place has really gone downhill in the last couple years. I used to come here for drinks with my co-workers at least once a week and it was alright. The service is slow even on slow nights and the menu is all over the place. I ordered PHO (Vietnamese noodle soup and it was nothing more than a sorry excuse for Vietnamese cuisine. Definitely not coming here again. The atmosphere is not worth the money, terrible service, or craptastic food. Disappointment is all you'll get here, other than the gravy fries.

Not sure why I keep coming back here...the beer I guess. So, we're 20 minutes in and still waiting to put our order in. They're not even that busy.

Worst meal that I've had in my two years in the Abingdon area. We went to the restaurant for a work function and had to pay $35.00 each for this fiasco on the plate. I had the fish. It was fried to the point that the fish turned to mush. My wife had the chicken which was rubber. We'd eaten here before and the meal was so-so. Had it not been a farewell event for a friend, we'd have never went there and certainly wouldn't have paid $35 for an entree.... The only bright spot was the waitress- she was very nice and worked hard to take care of everyone.

We stopped here on our way to Laurel - a perfect stop for a light meal and a few beers! This location is a little off of the beaten path but well worth the little detour. If you come during the week around 5pm expect it to be a little crowded but there is plenty of room for everyone. Once again, we opted for the Arizona Burgers with Duck Fat Fries and chips. Both were excellent and we enjoyed happy hour prices as well! I started with their Sweet Baby Jesus peanut butter and chocolate porter - excellent! Next up came a Serum XX IPA which was excellent as well. I also tasted the Devil's Milk Barleywine and took a growler with me for my son. Their menu is good and the service is great. Beers are listed on a large board and tastings are readily offered and available.

The atmosphere is nice and open but the food is lack luster. I had the Arizona burger cause I'm an Arizona girl and well it was bland. Bryan has a steak medium and it came out well done:/ For desert I ordered a chocolate brownie with ice cream and well it was cold!! Not ice cream on top cold. it was cold like it wasn't even warmed up:( I was so sad. The service was nothing spectacular. The only really good thing I can say is the caramel apple martini I had 2 of we're soooo good. Only reason this isn't a lower review.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by DuClaw. I'm normally not a fan of chain restaurants, but the food and beer here were definitely above average. The food had the balance that is the mark of someone who actually knows how to cook quality food. Even things you would think would be heavy (crab pretzel, gravy fries) had flavors that were in proportion. A solid meal for a good price if you happen to be out in the boonies of Harford County.

Beer is good, and obviously there's a large selection of it. The place is clean and presentable. I thought the Venom and chips (Beer battered cod) would have a nice unique taste but wow it was awful! Just a plate full of grease with no taste. My friends liked their food (duck fries and wings) so maybe I just got a bad egg. Stay away from the fish lol. Nice place though.

Absolutely enjoyed our late lunch, yesterday! Venom & Chips was an excellent choice to make. Super beer choices, too: Old Flame & Bad Moon Porter were delightful. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Went here the other day for dinner with some friends. The food was ok, but not great. Got the pub fries as an appetizer, and was kind of disappointed in them. It wasn't that large of a basket of fries, and there wasn't a set of sauces that came with it, you had to pick your own, which was fine, but the waiter couldn't get us a complete list. The fries were good but not great, and definitely not worth the cost of the appetizer. The entrees were pretty good. My friend got the pork loin in the pastry, and I had a buffalo chicken panini. We tried two of the beers, but were kind of disappointed in them.

Once again, Duclaw has changed their menu and this time not for the better. I'm beginning to think Duclaw's menus are like Windows operating systems... every other menu is amazing. The last few times I've been to Duclaw, I left so happy that I've been aching to take my husband there for the first time. I thoroughly enjoyed their ahi tuna appetizer amongst other things. So when I wanted to do lunch with a former colleague and introduce her to my new hubby, I knew this was the opportunity I had been waiting for - to introduce him to Duclaw. And once again, not unlike the great Bill Gates, Duclaw surprised me with an update that didn't exactly knock my socks off. My favorite appetizer? Gone. The slider choices? Now severely limited. Several other absolute favs of mine and my daughters? Disappeared. So I gave the menu a good onceover and thought - Boy, this veggie wrap sounds good... add tuna to make it .... $24?!?! FOR A WRAP? Dear Duclaw, there's not a wrap in the world worth paying $24 for. Well, actually, there is but it sure as heck ain't never gonna in the same zip code as your brewery. I ended up with the still-overpriced fish and chips for $14. Now.. I just returned from my wedding... in England.. so I didn't set my expectations high. I was still disappointed, not to mention the wait was ridiculous. For $14, it was significantly less than mediocre. My husband had a burger, and his official review was a shrug. My colleague ordered a salad, but the dressing was so garlicky it turned her off completely. Kudos to the waitress for taking it off the bill without us even asking. Once again, Duclaw drops off the list when I consider our Abingdon / Bel Air dining choices. Sometimes I don't know why we ever even stray from Freddies in the first place.

Excellent! The selection of beer changes but they also keep the standard favorites. Funk is my favorite, Hellrazer is my husbands! The food never disappoints either! Get the wilted kale salad, it's to die for. Their blackberry BBQ wings are awesome!

Kinda pricey for mediocre food. Luckily what I ordered was pretty good the Shrimp, Scallop Manicotti and the Sampler Beer Platter for around $10 was pretty cool since one beer cost about $5 you at least get to see what you like. I liked the Blonde Pale Ale or Whatever it was called "Bare Ass Blonde" the Sweet Baby Jesus was not to my liking but if you like Dark coffee, chocolaty beers then go for it. Service kinda lacked in that department was in a group of 10 so of course everything took a long time to arrive.

Best place to go for a beer and to watch sports. My advice is to sit at the bar, whether its just for drinks or drinks and food. The bartenders, big shout out to Mike, are the best in town. The food menu is ever changing. Sometimes it's good, other times it just misses the mark. If you're into beer you simply must give this place a try. If you enjoy what you try, take a jug home :-). The crab pretzel and French dip sandwich are still the best items on the menu.

Okay so we have been here three times to actually sit down and eat and two out of the three times we have been let down. We give it two stars because the beer is good by itself, but the kitchen really lacks the ability to support their strong alcoholic menu. Perhaps we could call this inconsistent, but unfortunately that is not the case. They have consistently been poor on their food. The service behind bar is slow and this is coming from people who work in the industry at bars downtown that are four and five deep. Normally We Would Not Blow Up A Play Like This But After Receiving Utterly Poor and lazy service, and having our food come out overcooked and dry due to the fact that it was left under the heating lamp we felt compelled to let them And others know about the issues with this restaurant. This is actually our first review ever, one that we felt so strongly about we had to write something.

The pulled pork brought me to tears - it was amazing. It is on the hidden menu. You have to ask your waiter/ress a few times before they acknowledge their specialty pulled pork options. Enjoy!

Wasn't too impressed. The beer was good. The jalapeño appetizer was missing something kinda bland the bacon on it wasn't cooked long enough. The tacos had to much sour cream and the flavor just wasn't there the short rib taco had a weird flavor to it. Not much on the menu that looked appealing. I would not go back

Horrible. Waited an hour for our order and left. The appetizer we had was greasy and tasteless.

  • Ron E.

The food was mediocre at best - stopped in tonight with our neighbors. We'd decided to have appetizers and once they came we also ordered, 5 of the weakest Captain Morgan and Cokes you'll ever drink. Our neighbors had 5 of the house beers. The check... $105!!! Ouch - stay away!!!

Everything is so big here... The place is huge in side. The menu is never ending... And the dishes were also really large. I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders for an appetizer and I was almost full off those! They were huge pieces; I don't see why they couldn't just cut them up smaller... but anyway, they were still delicious. More on the spicy side than most buffalo sauces I eat. That makes me happy! My main dish was the crabcakes. It was pretty big too, but I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce. My service was outstanding. And since it was a brewing company, I would recommend you try their beers... The only reason I didn't is because I don't like to drink while eating. I drink to binge drink and that's it!

  • Jennifer S.

The beer is always good, and ever-changing. Luckily, they aren't usually too too packed during their beer releases, but happy hour is the best time to visit the bar. Happy hour is 4-7 weekdays. The food is 4 stars because of the high price and small portions. Nevertheless, it's tasty.

Once loved this place. Lately quality of beer and food has plumetted. Recently my mom was served a burger that was still raw in the middle. Raw...not slightly underdone...blatantly raw. Our server was incredibly apologetic and immediately took the plate back to the kitchen to have a new burger made. 2nd burger was perfect but we never had a manager come to the table and there was no offer to discount the meal. Last night took the nephew and tried the bacon meatloaf sandwich. Horrible joke. The meatloaf slice was really a pile of mushy "meatloaf" hash covered by a ridiculous mound of fried onions. Impossible to eat as a sandwich. The meatloaf hash was luke warm and basically flavorless. Luckily the appetizers are still on point making this a decent place for after work drinks...but try a sample of the beer you're interested in before ordering a full pint. Some of their new brews aren't that great.

This review is NOT for the Brew Pub itself but for the "Realale Fest" that took place on September 10th at the Duclaw Restaurant and Brewery. I have been to a lot of beer festivals in my time, but this one may have been my favorite. Did they have the best breweries; no. Did they have some damn good beers that you never had to wait in line for; YES! The tickets were $45 and that included an all you can eat portion of the festival as well. There were 22 breweries including, Duclaw, Stoudt's, Flying Fish, Heavy Seas, Yards, Stone and Oliver. There were others but you get the idea. At first I was hesitant because an all you can eat and all you can drink event would surely attract a large crowd! Not true. This was the perfect sized beer festival. There were only a couple hundred people there and it was not overcrowded at all. A lot of the head brewers for the companies were also present so it was good to hear them talk about their beers. The food situation was awesome. The food was not at all the best, but it was good for when you had those munchies creep in from all the ales. They also had 2 whole roasted pigs. YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH PORK!! NEVER!! They even had their own rendition of smores which looked awesome. I did not try them because I was drowning myself in ale. I did have 2 favorites. The one was the Oktoberfish which was delicious. Very strong hints of everything you want a fall seasonal to have. If I remember correctly they used Horizon and Crystal hops. It was delicious. They are out of NJ if you are not aware. My other favorite I believe was made by Pub Dog and it was a blue corn ale; so blue corn was introduced during the brewing process. It was awesome and pretty original. I have never had a beer like that before. I did try a lot of the Duclaw beers and I can tell you now that they were not my favorite. So I would probably not go there to just drink beer. Overall I really enjoyed my experience at this alefest. It was well organized, planned and the breweries that were there were decent. I would totally check this out next year!

Beer is awesome, service was great and food was very good. I had a hard time staring across the bar watching some guy order Miller Lite after Miller Lite, but other than the one misfit everyone was enjoying the REAL beer. I had the Arizona burger with the duck fat fries...delicious. I used the Chipolte mayo that came with the burger as a dip for the fries and I ended up licking the plate! Burger was cooked to order. For beer I had the SerumXX IPA, Hellrazer IPA and the Celtic Fury. Both great! I even bought a growler of the serum to take home with me... Dinging this place for its changing menu isn't fair...it's all about the beer!

First, it isn't "Duclaws". When I hear locals say this, it's like hearing someone from Dundalk say "zink" instead of "sink". The name doesn't have to do with those things on your dog's legs. The beer here is top notch. Best in the area, bar none. They've got the Great American Beer Festival/World Beer Cup awards and local following to prove it. Sure, they have Miller Lite in bottles for the unadventurous types but that's like going to a bakery and asking for Wonder Bread. Who does that? Take the training wheels off or be a sissy and drink the equivalent of a McDonald's $1 hamburger. Service is good, atmosphere is nice. Food is good. Yeah, they've changed their menu to more of a gastropub theme but some old favorites have made it back. Still pretty tasty.

Had a delicious dinner here the other night. There is patio seating (five tables?) and the service was great (was there when you needed, but did not hover). Drinks were delicious, I recommend the orange crush - made with fresh crushed oranges! Arizona Burger had tons of flavor and the crab cake, while not jumbo lump, was awesome. The fries are really good too, they keep the potato skins on, which adds some flavor. No sweet potato fries on the menu though. The only complaint about this place is inside is visually bland. Just rows of booths, but if you focus on food and service you will not be disappointed.

only been here once, but definitely enjoyed my experience. mom and I sampled a few beers and uh, a few cocktails too. the beers were not bad at all, but I generally drink bud lite. so take my opinion with a grain of salt, I suppose. they have a good bloody Mary with a house made chipotle vodka. for dinner, we split this house specialty appetizer. I forget the name but it was a giant soft pretzel with the ubiquitous Maryland crab dip smothered on top. delicious. she ordered the sliders for dinner. they were very small, obvs, but came with a mound of those crispy, shoestring type fries. those were not bad either. she enjoyed them on the other hand, the jambalaya I ordered was really good. tons of protein, and the sauce was delicious. would definitely recommend. in general, it's a good local find. Bel Air is a sea of chain restaurants, and I love to support this brewery. It's not my favorite restaurant, but I would def go back to try out other things on their menu.

I went to Du Claws at BWI yesterday with a friend and we had about three hours to hang out before we caught our train back home. The bartender gave us OK service and the food was very good....however, we were stunned by a couple of the servers bad attitudes our entire stay at the bar (we left as soon as we ate). I have been in the restaurant business for over 22 years and have never seen anything like it. Our bartender should have either addressed the bitching waitresses or got a manager to handle it. The service bar is not the place to declare "I hate my f-ing tables" and "I only made $50 dollars last night, what bull----!" and "I'm gonna kill these f-ing bitches!". I couldn't believe how it went on and on...As we left, I went to the table where two older women were and let them know that their server was being negative to the rest of the staff about them and they said they knew she "was not a very nice person". The hostess approached me and asked if there was some sort of problem and I replied that some of the waitresses had very bad attitudes but since she worked there she was probably already aware of it, and she looked dumbfounded. I feel like if I observed that behavior in 45 minutes, she knew exactly what and who I was talking about. Sad commentary on the whole place and the rest of the staff who lets them bring them down to their level of unprofessional ism. I would rather spend my money and tip happy, friendly and nice restaurant staff.

We stop here whenever we can, return trips from vacation, visiting our niece, etc. I love their beers, they are creative and well-done. The Cuban sandwich is one of my favorites. I also love the Misfit chips. My dipping sauce choices are Blackberry BBQ, Mango BBQ, and Cajun Remoulade. Nice place, several choices for both beer and food. I wish we lived closer.

A big score for Yelp! I was visiting the area and used Yelp to find this gem. Very good brew pub brew (and I'm a recovering beer snob). All three brews I tried were outstanding. I even took home two growlers of Twisted Kilt Scottish Ale... That good!! Great burger and wings served by a super friendly and attentive bartender. If I didn't live 200 miles away I'd be a regular! Four solid stars!!! Nobody gets a five unless they REALLY deserve it and they were close!!!

I've been here twice now and have to say that it's great for the area it's in. However, it's not spectacular for a microbrewery. The bare assed blonde is my favorite beer there - the perfect mid point between a lager and a pils with plenty of hoppiness. The food left a lot to be desired - for a restaurant that claims great food, it's more like Applebee's cuisine. We left here happy due to the heavy alcohol consumption but still hungry. Oh - if you join their beer club, be prepared - it's a $65 fee. If you're not a local, it's definitely not worth it.

Very nice interior. The beer was good and the service was as well. However, the food was not good. I got the sliders and the burgers were way, way over cooked. It's unfortunate because I could see us going back, but the food and this first experience will keep us away.

Pretty good bar type food with a little bit of extra variety. In house brews are excellent and they are always pushing new ones. I haven't had anything bad from here yet. My only complaint is the Bel Air location is a little small and sometimes the wait just isn't worth it. Make sure you get the pretzel sticks as an app and ask for honey as a dipping sauce... you won't regret it.

So before my first ever trip to Edgewood, a few people told me I needed to check out Duclaw's one night, if only to sample a few of the beers. I like beer so I had no problem signing myself up for it. The beers were actually very good. Euphoria I think was the favorite in our group - a nut brown ale that was the smoothest and most buttery I had ever had. Really good. I tried maybe 5 or 6 in all over the course of two days. Solid roster. The food was pretty good as well. Someone had recommended the Yet Unnamed Crab Sandwich (I think that's what it was called). It's basically a crab cake, bacon, and a Dijon mayo on a pretzel roll. Delicious. I also tried one of their burgers which was also surprisingly good. My one complaint is that the service is a little lacking. The servers were friendly enough, but it took them a long time to do something. I think part of the problem is how big the place is and how much ground each server covers. They may not come near your table for an extended period of time, so there's no opportunity to ask for something. I'd go back here if only just to try a couple more beers and have that crab sandwich again.

I went to Duclaw the last two Saturday nights with a fairly large group of friends. Everything we've had here has been delicious, whether it was appetizers, burgers, drinks, or dessert! The first time, I ordered a burger and fries which was delicious, and I got a blonde ale, and a Euforia, which is a toffee flavored brown ale. I would definitely recommend the Euforia, it was very tasty. Between the two visits, we also ordered mozzarella moons, potstickers, and the desert that has vanilla ice cream, lava cake, and blondie brownies. All of which were fantastic. The blondie brownies were my favorite! It's great to have a brew pub in the area that also has yummy food. We will definitely be back!

Decent place, the food is kind of going for some kind of west coast crazy look like a Sous restaurant. Come on guys, people come to this place to drink beers, most beer drinkers are not sophisticated. Yea I said it, they are not. That is why they say "a champagne taste on a beer budget." Anyhow I had the middle eastern lamb burger. It was okay but their spice mix is seriously missing cumin and coriander, two vital ingredients in middle eastern cuisine. The watermelon salad with shrimp was good, but the dressing was the best part. Beers, well they have some interesting things, like beer infused with tea, yea some chamomile tea in the beer. Tasted like it sounds. I feel like some of the brewers here are just adding a bunch of crap into the beers to make it appeal to the seemingly upper middle class folks in this area. This is a bad combination as it creates too many impurities in the beer. After only 3 beers at this place I woke up the next day with a rip roaring hangover. The taste of everything was decent, the ambiance was good. But realistically, for the price in this area of town, quite frankly they have no idea what the hell they are doing here. (The cooks and the brewers.)

Great beer, surrounded by not-so-great everything else. I love brewpubs, I love beer. I have to tell you though, this trip to Du Claw was pretty disappointing. I had some good pints, and some good jerk chicken wings. The good: - I really enjoyed my porter, and the jerk wings. They were both good. The bad: - Awful pop music is awful. Really. - Service was really slow, and I never figured out who the manager was. - As an experiment, my buddy and I watched to see how long it would take a staffer to pick up a napkin that someone else dropped on the floor. I think it's still there. - The black bean burger is way, way too much to enjoy, without at least a big fatty tomato to keep it juicy. Whoever makes these does not eat them. - On the way out, two waitresses were squatting in a station eating spaghetti. I understand they have to eat, but this isn't what I wanted to see on a night with particularly slow service. Sorry, I really wanted to write a stellar review, but I just can't.

I've been a few times before deciding to write this review to ensure I wasn't experiencing an off moment. It appears that I wasn't. Slow service, wrong orders, food brought out at different times for the table, drinks not refilled - I've experienced it all and then some. Didn't have the beer, so I can't comment on that - maybe that is why people come here instead of the food. No need for me to return though.

I was visiting a friend in Maryland and during our day our and about we stopped in for lunch. Awesome place - I'm hoping when I go visit again we can go there again. Had the slammers - it is the best thing being able to pick 3 different sandwiches. Beer selection is great and the staff knows their stuff. Had a great meal and great overall experience. The atmosphere is really pretty cool as far as privacy in the booths, high ceilings, and overall decor - definitely adds to the experience. Very very very recommended. I don't know if it is offered and I should have asked but a beer sampler would be awesome here.

I live pretty close to DuClaw and have given them 4 tries to this day...My verdict for their best food is their duck fat fries which i might add are the best I have ever had. Everything else on the menu sounds so great when reading and such variety however have been disappointing. Their beer is ok though! The food isnt the best just all talk.

Lunch at 11:45am on Thursday, January 20, 2011. It was one of my employee's birthday, so I took a few of them out for lunch and recommended DuClaws in Bel Air. I ordered the rib eye, medium rare. It arrived well done, with nothing even resembling a shade of pink on the inside. The manager agreed this was "well overcooked", and returned shortly thereafter with another rib eye. This time, it was ok on the edge where I began eating, but a third of the way in, it was completely raw. But not red-raw, it was a drab brownish-pink raw, which now reminds me of meat gone bad past its expiration. I didn't want to ruin the mood, so I ate about half and pushed it aside. Ninety minutes later, I felt very thirsty suddenly. Two hours later, my stomach began gurgling. Three hours later, I became sick. (I'll keep the details to myself for now.) There's something very wrong with either the food, the cook, the management of the kitchen, or perhaps all of the above. I can only say that after being a DuClaws fan for the past 7 years, I will never again set foot in one, nor will I ever recommend DuClaws in Bel Air again.

Can't say much for the food because I've never had it...BUT, the beer is very good

Surprisingly delicious for a chain. Delicious beers and great sauces are the things that will draw us back here again. Entrees were decent, but the real standouts were the platter of fries with different kinds of mustard that came with them. Du Claw has a nice atmosphere - very clean, nicely lit, high ceilings. It's a relaxing afternoon place, and we'll definitely head back for some more beer and appetizers. Try the beer sampler if you're not sure which one you'll like, it's a nice deal.

I had the sampler platter of 8 brews and most were good. The chocolate raspberry stout was not a favorite. The food was okay, but not over the top. Typical Bennigan's fare. I'd go again for the beer.

I went here on Saturday waiting for my car to get fixed. I thought the Mysterium was good. My boyfriend had the Black Lightening, which was surprisingly smooth. We sampled the Serum, and I even I liked a beer this hoppy. Not much to say about the food, it was edible. I had the crab cake sandwich. The patty itself tasted fine but the bun didn't seem very fresh (top was peeling off like it had been stored in a freezer). The fries were soggy (they had only been open for 30 minutes) and the mayo had too much cayenne pepper in it. Not sure if this place is worth a repeat, but I would consider picking up a growler.

This place is a cool spot if you are looking for a different place to hang with some friends and drink some brews. I didn't eat but the burgers looked good. Try the beer sampler to get the full experience of brewery's unique selection.

Just like an reviewer said, "Great beer, great food, great atmosphere. "

Stick with the beers and bar food. The wings and the soft pretzels are good nibbling food, and so are the homemade chips. Things go south when you order actual dinners.

DuClaw's has a nice selection of beers and their service is always awesome. The only reason they get 3 stars is because their food is hit and miss. Anything with crab is well made and the apps are tasty. I like Fish and Chips and have had it twice there, once not so good, once really good. Also, their kids menu has no creativity and is prepackaged frozen stuff. If you're in the area, go and have a Venom beer and an app, you will enjoy.

Good Beer, they have their own selection of different types of brews. Also, in the winter they show the GIANTS games....

Yummy! Great location in Bel Air. Lots of beer choices. I had a salad that was delish! Everyone at the table left happy and full . . . we'd definitely go back. Went on a Friday night and was grateful to not have to wait long at all. Fun atmosphere with bar and separate dining room. High ceilings and nice atmosphere!

Call all beer Lovers! We were visiting the area and looking for a place to grab a bite to eat ... The mussels (cooked in beer) are FANTASTIC! I had the misfit amber ale and it was excellent!! Friendly customer service topped off the experience! Will come back next time we are in the area!

Editing my review from a few years ago: Still a great spot for good beer. Always different seasonals on tap, plenty to choose from. Can't say enough about how good the beer is. The food quality on the other hand has plummeted. First, there is no consistency at all. There is only a few things on the new menu that I will get and even those taste drastically different every time. For example, the short rib panini has been one of the better sandwiches i've had in a while, it has also been incredibly dry and completely bland other times. My fiance has tried a few different "cajun" or "jerk" dishes they have had on the menu or as specials and each just as under seasoned as the next. A few of the appetizers have been good lately, but thats about it. Seems as though ever since they changed to their new menu from their old, much more bar appropriate menu the quality of the food has gone downhill big time. A few of their bartenders and wait staff are great, but most seem to be untrained on the beer, which is mind blowing to me when its a brewery. Service is consistently average overall. At this point we mostly just go for the beer and make sure we eat before we go, or go somewhere else for food afterwards.

I expected more from a "micro" brewery - the bier was adequate, nothing special, not as flavorful as I like. I prefer my IPAs full of flavor and very hoppy - I was disappointed on both. Food is also adequate, decent, similar to chain restaurants such as TGIF, Chilli, etc. I imbibed in the brews a few years ago (about 2004) when the bier was brewed on site. My memory must have changed because I seem to remember a more tasty brew. As previous reviews have stated, the restaurant was rebuilt and reopened after the original burned down. Unfortunately, the brewery was not rebuilt on the property. If in the area, I will probably drive a few miles down to the White Marsh area. Happy hours ($2 off draft bier ends promptly at 1900/7pm).

Went there last night as I haven't been there since last fall when they took off my strawberry and blue cheese salad. Come to find out that my favorite pork dish that is wrapped in puff pastry is also now gone. My friend and I both decided to try the seafood stuffed cannaloni. It. Came out cold! We sent it back and the second time it came out smothered in too much tomato sauce. Service was good though.

Love the brews here. Consecration, misfit red, and black jack stout are my favorites. Burgers are delicious and offer good variety. Buffalo chicken strips and pretzel sticks are great happy hour snacks.

Being a home-brewer myself, I have heard that the owner is a big supporter of Home-Brew clubs and brewing enthusiasts. This is a big plus for me. I've been to every Duclaws and absolutely love their beer. On most occasions, I make it a point to try something diffeent on the menu and still haven't found something I don't like. Their food is very good, even if a bit pricey. Quality costs money and I'm willing to pay for it. Way to go!

Great food, great beer.... what else is there to say? Me and my husband are regulars at DuClaw. (We live less then a half a mile away) We have never been disappointed in the food or there great micro brewed craft beer. They offer a good variety of items on there menu from salads, sandwiches, delicious burgers, and "utensils required" entrees. And you have to try there home made potato chips with various dipping sauces!! There fully stocked bar is equipped to make any drink you could think of and along with there micro brewed craft beer they offer a variety of "name brand" beer. The staff is great, and can answer any questions you may have about the different house beers they carry. Trivia night on Thursday, Get there early if you want to sit in the bar. Awesome happy hour special, especially when football is in season!!

Not a bad place especially if you are a beer lover. The place is pretty clean and the staff is friendly. Service throughout the meal was polite and attentive. The food was good but a little misleading. I had the chicken Baltimore and there was barely any crab meat on there. It still was tasty, just not as advertised. My wife had the blackened tuna melt which also was tasty but wasn't really a sandwich more of a fork and knife meal. All in all though tasty food, good service, and a really diverse beer selection.

Having just moved to Abingdon, this has become a normal happy hour dinner place. The beer is very good. Its actually one of my favorite microbrewery. You'll find they have a good selection no matter what kind of beer you like. I especially like the Misfit Red, which luckily isn't a seasonal and is there year-round. As for the food, it's OK. They try to offer more than bar food, but I would stay away from the Thai pasta! The sandwiches on the other hand are very good, esp. the crab cake sandwich on a delicious pretzel roll. Also, try their buffalo chicken dip as an app. Its a fun atmosphere, but if you don't like beer, stay clear!

Not a big fan of DuClaw's brews and, for a microbrewery, to not like any of their beer selections everything else in the place is irrelevant in my opinion. I only go if someone else is paying

I have only been there for beer, and I don't have any complaints. I had one of the darker beers and it had a coffee flavor to it mmmm. delicious. I would go back again.

Meh. DuClaw is your basic micro-chain restaurant. I don't drink beer, so beer aside... Service is usually good and the place is clean. They have "call-ahead" seating, not reservations, but its usually not necessary unless there is a big sports event or a new beer. The prices are average and on par with the area - $10 for most salads/sandwiches and a little more for entrees. The food is ok, not fantastic, but not horrible either. I can take or leave this place - I wouldn't pick it myself, but I'm not against it if someone else wants to go.

Took the family on an early Saturday evening. Atmosphere was good. Not too loud but also not so slow that it seems lost. The crab pretzel and Not-Yet Named crab sandwich were both tasty. I tried their Bad Moon Porter and became an immediate fan. Flavorful dark beer with carbonation to it. It was unique and delicious.

I have been here a few times over the past few months. I am new to the area from Philly (and I miss all the fabulous restaurants and brew pubs there :( ). I first went to the DuClaw in the Fell's Point area. I was happy to find one much closer to me. This place is a bit over top architecturally (ie giant size prints of its beers on tap) but you can see the vats and such they brew their beer in. It's a large space, and the tables are huge, so getting a seat for a large party shouldn't be a problem. They seem to have private rooms too. The bar area is neat and spacious. A good place just to grab a pint. Ok onward about food/beer. My husband and I love microbrews, and we like supporting local breweries and such. My husband is a huge environmentalist, so we love places where we can get growlers of fresh beer to go. This is such a place. The beer is pretty good; it's outlandishly named and over the top sometimes, but the ABV is generally pretty high for their brews and their beers are always tasty. As for food, I have gone here a few different times with different people. We've had the mozzarella sticks, which are good and appear to be not frozen. The salads are good. My husband generally gets their Sweet Pecan or Strawberry salad, both of which he loves. I have had their house salad, and it's also good. I haven't ventured into their entrees yet, but I have had their grilled chicken sandwich and their burger. They have homemade potato chips as their side, and they are good. The fries are good too. The best part about this place for us is that it's convienent, the beer is good, and we can get a growler to go. They apparently distill their own liquor too, but I haven't ventured there yet...

After over 400 and some days DuClaw Bel Air is reopening in on 9/17 after fire and water damages. The place has a new look and a new menu (which I was excited to see because the food before was so so). Well I had the opportunity to be an Early Bird and try the place out Friday 9/14 with the Hubby and another couple. Friday and Saturday they were giving their club members a FREE meal to give the servers a work out and reviews on the new menu. The deal was we were given 2 set up menus- 1 had appetizer and 2 entrees and the other had 2 entrees and a dessert- and we all got 2 free beers or house wines. The 1st thing we tried was the Mozzarella Moons- which is basically mozzarella sticks in a crescent moon shaped topped with a nice chunky Mariana sauce. The learned they were homemade and not frozen. They were pretty good!! Next my Hubby and I split the Carolina Pork BBQ Sandwich- Thinly sliced, slow-roasted pork tossed in our Carolina BBQ sauce and served on a fresh roll. Served with homemade chips (weren't impressed with this chips). The sandwich was good but could has had more sauce and we weren't to keen on the bun. But over not bad. Next we all split the Chicken Baltimore-Sauted chicken breast topped with julienned prosciutto ham, garnished with lumb crab meat, and topped with Hollandaise sauce. Served over rice and tender asparagus. This was to die for! Oh my goodness it was GREAT! (but we all said we couldn't find the crabmeat nether-less it was YUMMY). Then we all tried the Spicy Jambalaya-Sauted chicken, shrimp and sausage tossed with peppers and onions in a Spicy Creole sauce, served over rice. Let me just say it was SPICY- and i mean spicy. Overall pretty yummy! The other couple split some new burger (which I can recall the name and it isnt listed online)- started with a B. They commented on not liking the bun also and over the burger wasn't bad. For dessert we all split the Creme Brulee cheesecake- very sweet. it was good but I didn't care for the crust. So some free food- some out of this world and others so so plus some free beer we had a great time. They were busy. Our reservation was for 9 and we were told to check back in at 9:45. Overall, I am looking forward to the Beer release parties and trying out some new menu items. Reopening is 9/17

We are regular visitors to Duclaw and are rarely disappointed by anything. I've had a variety of menu items and enjoyed them all. The portions are good without being excessive or miniscule. Service is routinely good to great. Sandwiches are reasonably priced, but the entrees can be a bit on the expensive side. The beer is quite good with a stable of regular brews (the red ale is my favorite) as well as a rotating selection of seasonal ones. If you have never been, get the sampler (and a designated driver).

Do I always catch this place on a bad day or is it just a model of inconsistent service? The beer is the highlight, the restaurant food is pretty good when they aren't out of what you order. The service.... I really wish I knew what was going on sometimes, it is a glaring weakness. I keep going back hoping to capture lightning in a bottle and have all of the good things come together on the same visit.
